Residential plumbing, done once

Bathroom and kitchen renovations, water heaters, leaks, drains, repiping. The cause is found before the fix, the price is written before the work, and nothing is closed up before it is tested.

Scope of work

What residential plumbing work covers

The jobs homeowners call about, and what each one includes. Your estimate lists the items for your job from this list.

Typical items for each kind of job. Your written estimate lists the ones for your job.

  1. R1

    Bathroom renovation plumbing

    • Demolition and cap-off of the old fixtures
    • Relocating or adding waste, vent and water lines for the new layout
    • Tub and shower valves, drains and overflows roughed to the finished wall
    • Toilet, lavatory and shower set; new shutoff valves at every fixture
    • Rough-in inspection before the walls close where the work needs a permit; trim-out after tile
  2. R2

    Kitchen renovation plumbing

    • Sink, dishwasher and disposal rough-in and trim
    • Ice-maker and filtered-water lines, pot fillers
    • Final connections to appliances, including gas ranges where in scope
    • Sink trap vented and dishwasher discharge piped the way the NYC Plumbing Code requires
  3. R3

    Repairs & leaks

    • Supply, drain and fixture leaks: found, then fixed, not patched
    • Shutoff valves, supply stops and angle valves replaced
    • Running toilets, dripping faucets, cartridges and fill valves
    • Low pressure diagnosed to its cause: valve, pipe or meter
    • Frozen and burst pipe repair
  4. R4

    Water heaters

    • Sizing from the household, not from the old tank
    • Tank or tankless, gas or electric, with T&P relief, expansion tank and isolation valves
    • Venting checked and corrected; old unit removed
  5. R5

    Drains & sewer

    • Camera inspection with a recording you can see
    • Cable or hydro jetting depending on what the camera shows
    • Cleanouts added where there were none
    • House trap and sewer line repair or replacement
  6. R6

    Repiping

    • Galvanized water lines replaced with Type L copper
    • Cast-iron stacks and risers replaced in phases so the house stays in service
    • New valves so the next repair is a one-fixture shutdown
    • Pressure tested, insulated, labeled
  7. R7

    Whole-house items

    • Main shutoff valve replacement
    • Pressure regulators, hose bibbs, laundry hook-ups
    • Sump pumps and sewage ejectors in basements and cellars
    • Water meter work coordinated with DEP
    • Backflow preventers on irrigation and boiler feeds, with the yearly test and the DEP report

PlumbHub LLC is a plumbing project contractor. Permitted plumbing work in New York City is filed, supervised and signed off by the New York City Licensed Master Plumber engaged for each project.

Questions homeowners ask first

Short answers

Do you give a price before the work?

Yes. Repairs are priced after the diagnosis, in writing, before the repair starts. Renovations and water heaters are priced from the layout, the photos and a site visit.

Can I buy my own fixtures?

Yes. Owner-furnished fixtures are fine; we tell you in writing beforehand if a model will not fit or will not pass inspection.

Who pulls the permit for my bathroom?

PlumbHub LLC is a plumbing project contractor. Permitted plumbing work in New York City is filed, supervised and signed off by the New York City Licensed Master Plumber engaged for each project. Some bathroom work needs no permit (replacing a fixture in place, for example). We tell you up front which parts of your job need one.

Do you work in apartments and co-ops?

Yes: houses, apartments, walk-ups, co-ops and condos. Building rules (alteration agreement, work hours, elevator booking, shutdown notices) are worked out with the managing agent before the first day.

Tell us what it does. We tell you why.

Call or text with the symptom, or send photos and the layout for a renovation estimate.
